One for the dark sweaty club, Elevation pairs pounding, rumbling kicks with rolling basslines and mysterious vocals. The result is a fast, industrial all-out whopper with heavy influences from Berlin and Copenhagen style techno.
Artist:
High Fidelity, aka Robert Stapleton, is a familiar face within the Irish club scene. With icons such as Jensen Interceptor, Defekt and Aloka as his idols, Robert’s abstract electro and techno productions hugely complement the fast-paced energy found in his live sets.
A host of club and festival appearances across the Emerald Isle, including Life Festival and Higher Vision, have provided a platform to propel his distinctive performances to a wider audience. Stapleton looks back to pre-pandemic times, re-appreciating the 2 festival bookings; “...a serious achievement for me personally, particularly playing the notorious Toast stage at Life Festival who has hosted an abundance of huge artists.”
Again reminiscing on the magic of festivals that we all very much missed out on in 2020, Robert recalls bumping into Textasy after arriving early for the artist’s first gig in Ireland, at Wigwam in Dublin. The two ended up chatting about unreleased bits and general nattering. Something we can only dream of right now, but rest assured once restrictions are lifted, we’ll be straight back at it. Apart from getting reacquainted with Textasy, another artist at the top of the Irishman’s list to see is DJ Mell G, fingers crossed she makes the journey over to Ireland some time in the not-to-distant future.
With a back catalog of scheduled releases (including a vinyl release on an Irish label V/A), remixes, and featured mixes, we can’t wait to see what High Fidelity brings in 2021.
This hammering slab of dark techno comes to wax at last, with its deep grooves and body-wrecking beats as potent as ever. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 3, 2020
